Consent to Communication
Habitat Coffee House | Effective date: April 2026
This Consent to Communication policy explains how Habitat Coffee House communicates with customers and visitors, and what choices you have about receiving those communications.
1. Transactional Communications
When you place an order, submit a catering inquiry, or contact us through our website, we will send you communications necessary to fulfill that request. These include:
• Order confirmations and receipts
• Shipping and delivery notifications
• Subscription renewal reminders and billing notices
• Replies to your direct inquiries or contact form submissions
These communications are necessary for the operation of our services and are sent regardless of your marketing preferences.
2. Marketing and Promotional Communications
We send marketing emails — including updates on new coffees, seasonal offerings, events, and promotions — only to people who have affirmatively opted in by:
• Checking a consent box on our contact form or at checkout
• Signing up for our mailing list via our website or in-shop
We will not add you to a marketing list without your explicit consent. We do not send unsolicited marketing text messages.
3. How to Opt Out
You can withdraw your consent to marketing communications at any time, at no cost:
• Click the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any marketing email
• Email us at [info@habitat.coffee] with the subject line "Unsubscribe"
Please allow up to 10 business days for your request to take effect. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect transactional communications related to an active order or subscription.
4. SMS / Text Message Communications
Habitat Coffee does not currently send marketing communications via SMS. If we introduce SMS notifications in the future, we will obtain your separate, express consent before doing so. Any future SMS program will comply with applicable laws, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
5. Email Service Provider
We use [email service provider, e.g., Mailchimp / Klaviyo] to manage our mailing list and send emails. Your email address and name are shared with this provider solely for the purpose of sending communications on our behalf. This provider is contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.
6. CAN-SPAM and CASL Compliance
All marketing emails from Habitat Coffee comply with the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act and, where applicable, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). This means every marketing email will:
• Clearly identify Habitat Coffee as the sender
• Include our physical mailing address
• Contain a clear and functional unsubscribe mechanism
• Honor unsubscribe requests promptly
7. Contact Form Consent
Our website contact form includes a checkbox asking for your consent to receive a reply. By submitting the form with that box checked, you consent to Habitat Coffee contacting you via email regarding your inquiry. We will not use contact form submissions to add you to a marketing list without separate opt-in.
