José Guevara started farming and producing coffee thanks to his parents and grandparents who were pioneers in the industry. Today, Jose works closely on the farm with his grandmother and two neighbors. The four of them have established a group aptly named Probando Ideas, which literally translates to Trying Ideas. And that is exactly what they do. The small group works together to brainstorm, experiment, and innovate, with coffee at the core of their mission.
To maintain plant health, the Probando Ideas team has created a fertilizer plan using organic fertilizers and a blueprint of trees for shade and crop diversity.
The Probando Ideas team enjoys collaborating with other producers, and it invites fellow farmers for training sessions and to share ideas. As Jose looks to the future, he hopes that one day he can build a larger wet mill and maybe even begin roasting coffee. He is eager to continue learning and trying new ideas!
